Team Energy Quake v1.1(b)

Client Information
==================
The Aim
-------
The aim is for your team to collect the energy required to achieve the limit set by the
server. You win when achieve this goal.

Installing
----------
Just uncompress the files in the zip file into your quake 2 directory and run it with
a shortcut with a command line like this:

c:\quake2\quake2.exe +set game energy +set deathmatch 1 +map base1

(Sets the game sub directory to energy, deathmatch on and loads the base1 map)

When you start
--------------
When you enter the server you will be Unitiated. This means you cannot carry energy and do
not release any when killed. You can still fight and get person frags. The idea is to
decide which team to join and find their initiation banner. When you are uninitiated all the
numbers on the top right will show your frag count.

The initiation banners
----------------------
The initiation banners are where you can join and leave a team. They look like flags and
are colored to the team that they belong too. You just walk over it to join the team and
walk over it again to leave. You can only join a team if you are uninitiated. Therefore you
must leave your team before joining another. The number of teams in the game is dependant
on the server.

Being a team member
-------------------
When you are a team member the number directly under the frag count is the amount of energy
you are carrying and the number below that is your teams score (equal to the amount of
energy in the basewell).

Energy
------
Energy is released from team members when they are killed. Energy released from your own
team is dangerous to you and so don't try and pick it up (it will hurt bad!). You can carry
a maximum of 20 bit of energy at once. Energy on the ground and be worth anything from
1 to 20 bits (this is to speed up the server instead of sending the location of say 20 bits
of energy it only has to send the location of 1). The energy is colored to the team who
dropped it.

Basewells
---------
The most important part of your team is the basewell. Your basewell is important because
it is where you store all the energy your team collects. Your teams basewell is created
by the team captain and he can destroy it and move it as he wants. Basewells start with
500 health and can be damaged. When they are destroyed all the energy contained in it will
be thrown all over the place and your teamscore will suddenly be zero! (The same will
happen if the captain destroys it). Also, all the energy that is released is from your
team so it will be deadly to you and useless as well. The idea is to never let this happen
to you and to make sure it happens to everyone else! The good thing is that basewell's
heal slowly over time. Basewells look like spawn spot but they are colored to the team who
owns them and they rotate and glow.

Captaining a Team
-----------------
If you are the first person to join the team then you will become its captain. When you are
a captain you can create a new basewell (command: createbasewell) and destroy the basewell (command: destroybasewell). There is obviously strategic value to putting your basewell near or on a rocket launcher so rememeber to consider this when placing it.

As well as being able to see the amount of energy your team has you will also be able to
see how much energy your basewell has. This will be displayed in alternation with the team
energy reading (Like with the energy armor).

Even though you are the team captain you cannot force team members to do your bidding but
it is likely that they will realise the need for defense, etc instead of just running off
to frag the other team (well after a while anyway!)

Server Information
==================
Maprun.txt File
---------------
This files lists the maps that will be run on the server. The one that comes with Energy
Quake lists all the maps that work properly with mana in the current version. You can alter
it as much as you like, just put each map on a seperate line. When the end of the list
is reached, the first one is reloaded and it starts another run.

The number of maps loaded will be reported to you when the server starts so you can check
if it worked.

Installing
----------
Just uncompress the files in the zip file into your quake 2 directory and run it with
a shortcut with a command line like this:

c:\quake2\quake2.exe +set game energy +set deathmatch 1 +map base1

(Sets the game sub directory to energy, deathmatch on and loads the base1 map)

Cvars
-----
CVAR NAME	DEFAULT VALUE	DESCRIPTION
numteams	3 Set the number of teams in the game (can be between 3 and 8
and the uninitiated count as a team)
energylimit	100 The ammount of energy needed for a team to win.
